We are a brand new church. Our first meeting was February 25, 2001. Our church constitution date was May 6th, 2001. We constituted with 99 members by the grace of God. The church started meeting at the first of this year and ever since that time, God has moved us along at amazing strides. Please pray for us as we continue to grow. Part of our desire is to not only reach those next door, but to reach the world if God would allow. Through this median, God has made it possible for us to affect lives near and far. I look forward to working on this site and making it what I pray God would have it be. Updated Saturday, June 30, 2001: Since we have become a church we have had so many wonderful things happen. Our church was able to raise enough money to send our youth on a summer mission trip in Panama FL. There the youth saw God work through them as many children came to know Christ in Vacation Bible School there in Florida. The week after that we experienced the Billy Graham Crusade in which several of our members participated in. There again was a great work of God that we got to experience. On June 25th through 27th of 2001, we had our first Vacation Bible School. We had around 40 children attend. Our adults and youth did a wonderful job in getting them there and ministering to them. We had one to make the decision to receive Christ and three others inquiring. My prayer is that many more seeds were planted. Updated Sunday, August 19, 2001: We started our land / building fund. It was our first physical step toward purchasing new land and making preparations to build. At present we are renting space, but since our start we have had the plans to build. We have divided our goals into four stages. The first stage is to buy a five-acre piece of land (with option to buy the rest of a 25-acre lot) straight out. This first stage will take around $30,000.00 and once completed the bank has said that we can receive a loan to build our first church building. The building is stage two and stages three and four will be buying the rest of the land. As I said our first stage will take $30,000.00. If you would be interested in giving to this fund or to the church in general, please make a check out to Harvestland Community Church and send it to P.O. Box 281 Hodgenville KY 42748. Please specify if it is for general use or for the land/building fund. Updated Monday, September 17, 2001: Our building fund is coming along pretty good. We are slowly growing upward to our first goal of $30,000.00. God has blessed us indeed and I pray that He will continue. On Sunday September 9, 2001 we had the opportunity to license Bobby Boster into the Gospel ministry. He is the first of hopefully many that will come from our church We are also moving toward our 6th month anniversary as a church. God has sustained us and brought us through some awesome things. On September 6th, Brother Andre Barnes started a youth ministry in Louisville Kentucky. This ministry is called No Limit Youth Ministry / Programs of Louisville, Inc. Through Brother Andre, Harvestland is extending its arms to that ministry and touching people in Louisville Kentucky. On Tuesday September 11, 2001 our nation experienced a tragedy in that terrorist took over four planes and destroyed the World Trade Center and part of the Pentagon. As our nation picks itself up, we as a church lifted the USA and its leaders up in prayer. Our hearts also goes out to those who have lost loved ones and family. May God bless America! On September 15th we had our first K.E.G. (Kids Experiencing God) party. Because of the rescheduling of LaRue County’s football game, we only had an attendance of about 60 youth show up. In that 60 though, God lead two to know the Lord as their Savior. To God be all glory!!!! We also are saying goodbye to John and Melissa McDowell from the ministry team and our congregation. God has lead them to return to Mt. Pisgah to serve as their Pastor. Please pray for them as they minister God’s grace to that church. Updated October 7, 2001: September 30th, 2001 we celebrated our sixth month anniversary as a church. We had an awesome attendance for our regular church service that got the wonderful surprise of witnessing Harvestland Community Church’s first wedding. On September 30, 2001 David McDowell and Theresa Crawford were married marking our first wedding at Harvestland. Updated November 30, 2001: On November 21st we held a candlelight service to give thanks at Thanksgiving. Again, another first for Harvestland Community Church. We are also closing in on our initial phase of our building project. We are hoping to have the deed to the first 5 acres within the next few weeks (God willing by the end of the year). To God be the glory, He has surely blessed us indeed!!! Top --- |
